Africa's most common antelope with an estimated 1.5 million animals living throughout the continent. Hundreds of thousands of these creatures still make annual migrations across East Africa's Serengeti plains in search of food and water.
It's odd shape is due to the front half of it's body being much heavier than the back.
The head is long and thick, with a broad snout ...perfect for feeding on grasslands.

There is very little difference between the males and females...both being the same colour and size as one another. Both the males and females have horns.
Females produce only one calf every year during the rainy season to make sure that there is plenty of grass to feed on.
The Wildebeest is also known as the Gnu.
